Definition of Bergman, Ingmar
(1918–2007), Swedish movie and theater director; full name Ernst Ingmar Bergman. He used haunting imagery and symbolism. Notable films: Smiles of a Summer Night (1955), The Seventh Seal (1957), and Fanny and Alexander (1982).
