  • (circa 1591–1652), Spanish painter and etcher, resident in Italy from 1616; known as Lo Spagnoletto (‘the little Spaniard’); also called Jusepe de Ribera. He is best known for his religious and genre paintings, for example the Martyrdom of St Bartholomew (circa 1630).
