(1924–2005), Ugandan statesman, Prime Minister 1962-6, President 1966–71 and 1980-5; full name Apollo Milton Obote. Overthrown by Idi Amin in 1971, he was re-elected President in 1980. He was removed in a second military coup in 1985.
