Hudson River

 
  • a river of eastern North America, which rises in the Adirondack Mountains and flows southwards for 560 km (350 miles) into the Atlantic at New York.

Origin:

named after Henry Hudson (see Hudson, Henry), who in 1609 sailed 240 km (150 miles) up the river as far as Albany
