Baja California

- a mountainous peninsula in NW Mexico, which extends southwards from the border with California and separates the Gulf of California from the Pacific Ocean. It consists of two states of Mexico: Baja California (capital, Mexicali) and Baja California Sur (capital, La Paz). Also called Lower California.
